Carbon reporting, explained for exporters

Practical carbon reporting guides for companies that have been asked for emissions data by a customer, a bank or a border — and do not have a sustainability department to hand it to.

Carbon reporting starts with the scopes

Almost every request is a request about one or more of the three scopes. Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions explained covers all three together and is the right place to begin.

For single definitions, the glossary has Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 separately.

Then the thing that triggered it

A CBAM report if your goods cross the EU border. A supplier questionnaire if a corporate customer asked. A GHG baseline if a bank attached one to a green credit line. Or the EU's voluntary VSME standard, if a customer asks for it by name.

The method behind the numbers

For the formula, the emission factors, the calculation trace and the data-quality checks, see the Karbon360 documentation. Definitions of individual terms are in the glossary.
